Trace Bundy

Last night the Academy decided to not screw over the Cadet Wing and had a really awesome concert at Arnold Hall. First was this band LUCE. They were pretty good. Good guitar, sweet keyboard. Overall, pretty good. But then came Trace Bundy.

If you haven't heard of Trace Bundy you should go out and buy everything Trace Bundy related right now. He is, with out a doubt, the best guitar player I have ever heard in my entire life. He's insane. He makes Eric Clapton sound like a kid with no hands is trying to play guitar. He makes Eddie Van Halen seem like he's playing in molasses. As for Ygnwie, that one creepy Spanish guy, and and any other guitarist, they suck compared to Trace.

This guy totally blow my mind. I had heard some of his stuff. It was pretty good. There was some bass, a little drum beat, some high keyboard-ish tones now and then...overall good. Then I found out that he actually plays all those parts himself...on an acoustic guitar...and that's about it. He'll beat the side of the drum while he plucks a string, at the same time his doing a run with his other hand. He uses some cool effects and loops to make some sweet sounds and backtracks. Trace even did a song using 5 capos. One capo is pretty normal. Two, okay, different, but not that crazy. But 5! Just seeing his fingers move and how he brings all the sounds together is amazing. He played a bunch of songs from his albums, like "Bristlecone", "Urban Challenge", and "Dueling Ninjas" along with Pachbel's "Canon in D" and "Fur Elise." He also played some medolies of 80's songs and even did a cover of "8 Mile" by Eminem. It was the shizz.

It's hard to describe what I felt being there last night. Just watching him do his stuff was awe inspiring. I would have never thought that the guitar could be used in the ways he did. Pure magic. Oh, and he's a really cool guy. My friends and I got to the show early so we could get front row seats. Trace was walking around and talking with everyone. He had a stand set up with shirts and stuff, so a friend and I went to look at them. While we were looking, we got to talk to Trace for a little bit. Then I bought an "Acoustic Ninja" shirt. Very b'dass. After the show, he signed my the shirt I bought and draw a sweet guitar. It's awesome.

Unless you can't tell, I really like this guy. He's by far the best guitarist I know of. So go buy his stuff...now.
